Fatal House Fire Under Investigation

A fatal house fire is under investigation in the Village of Millersburg, Hardy Township, Holmes County, Ohio.

On Wednesday, September 4th,2024, at approximately 3:07 pm, Holmes Fire District 1 responded to a report of a house fire, located at 113 North Crawford Street in the Village of Millersburg. Upon arrival, fire crews observed flames and smoke on the front porch, through the window of the residence. A search was completed, and one victim was located inside the residence. All rescue efforts were attempted and exhausted. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Currently, the fire is under investigation jointly with the Ohio State Fire Marshals Office, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Millersburg Police Department, and Holmes Fire District 1.

Assisting agencies involved: Prairie Township Fire Department (Holmesville), Killbuck Township Fire Department, Western Holmes Fire District, East Holmes Fire District, Paint Township Fire Department (Winesburg), South Central Fire District (Fredericksburg), Millersburg Police Department & Millersburg Street Department & Utilities, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Fire Marshals Office, American Red Cross, Design Restoration, Holmes County Coroner, Dr. Leon Miller.
