Fire Inspection Bureau

Inspections

Holmes Fire District #1 is responsible for conducting Fire Safety Inspections at commercial structures annually in our district. State and local fire codes require that every commercial occupancy receive a fire inspection annually. Our goal is to protect all occupants of a building from potential injury and any business from experiencing a financial loss. By providing inspections, education, and pre-planning, we can potentially reduce your businesses downtime, in the event of a fire. All inspections follow the current Ohio Fire Code as well as any local ordinances.

We also provide fire safety inspections for group homes, daycare and foster homes that are required by the State of Ohio. Residential safety inspections are available upon request.

Holmes Fire District #1 currently has 18 Ohio Certified Fire Safety Inspectors.

Building Pre-Incident Plans

Building Pre-Incident Plans are are informational guides used by fire personnel to familiarize themselves with your business and building. Information includes contact names, fire alarm and sprinkler information, special access codes for gates or doors, and special hazards that are unique to your business. The primary goals of Pre-Incident Plans are to reduce the potential injury of firefighters and unnecessary damage to your property.

Knox Boxes

KNOX BOX is a type of secure key box that is located on the outside of your building near the main entrance. It can hold keys or codes to your building that allow quick access without forcing open a door. They can also hold other keys or information about fire alarm system for example. There is a “Master Key” that is secured in all of our vehicles. The “Master Key” can only be released by a code that is specific to each firefighter. It also must be reported to our dispatch (Sheriffs Office) that the key will be used to make access. Information on a KNOX BOX can be found here. Choose “Ohio” then search “Holmes Fire Dist 1” to find the product you need.
