Holmes Fire District 1 receives a $2,000 Walmart Community Spark Grant to assist with the purchase of a thermal imaging camera.
Holmes Fire District 1 is excited to announce that it has received a $2,000 Community Spark Grant from Walmart specifically through our local Millersburg Walmart. The funding was used towards the purchase of a FLIR K55, a thermal imaging camera, a critical tool that enhances the department’s ability to protect and serve the community. Thermal imaging cameras are invaluable for firefighters during emergency response situations. By allowing responders to see through smoke, darkness, and heat, these cameras provide real-time images of heat sources and help locate victims, pinpoint fire hotspots, and navigate hazardous environments with greater efficiency and safety.
“This generous grant from Walmart will help our firefighters respond faster and more effectively during emergencies,” said Brian Rafferty, Interim Fire Chief of Holmes Fire District 1. “The thermal imaging camera will not only improve safety for our personnel but also allow us to better protect our community by quickly locating victims in dangerous conditions, such as during structure fires or search-and-rescue operations.”
The Walmart Community Spark Grant program is designed to support local nonprofit organizations and public service agencies that work to improve the quality of life in their communities. By investing in these types of initiatives, Walmart is helping to strengthen the safety and well-being of neighborhoods across the country.
Thank-You to our local Millersburg Walmart for providing this funding opportunity to us.
